About Us

Bernie McCarthy is the founder and leader of McCarthy Psychology.  He is a registered clinical psychologist with a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Melbourne University.  He uses the insights of psychology, particularly the person centred philosophy and approaches to care, attachment theory, short-term dynamic approaches to psychotherapy and knowledge of behaviour models. He has extensive experience in providing clinical psychology support to adults and to aged care services throughout Australia. Using psychotherapy he aims to relieve emotional distress and suffering, and improve capacity to experience enjoyment, to work productively and to have satisfying relationships.

Anne Connor is General Manager of the practice. She holds a BA from Deakin University, has studied at Post Graduate level at the University of Oxford, UK and holds a TAE Cert IV. She manages the Employee Assistance Program, maintains relationships with aged care providers and staff, sources psychological help for staff and manages the finances and bookkeeping for the practice.
