Consulting Rooms for lease – for practicing psychologists and other health service practitioners

McCarthy Psychology Centre is located in the heart of Eltham Victoria on the first floor of the St Vincent’s Care Services’ administration building. Entrance to the Counselling Rooms is down the side of the St Vincent’s Care Services  Eltham administration building.  It is well signed posted, so please follow the signs. Rooms are easily accessible by car and are opposite the Eltham train (Hurstbridge line) and bus station. A lift provides easy access for disabled or elderly clients.The consulting rooms are available from 8am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 3pm on Saturdays.

These rooms are managed by McCarthy Psychology Centre.

We have three recently refurbished consulting rooms, waiting and reception area, with a new modern kitchen for counsellors to prepare a quick snack. A hot desk is available for counsellors to book sessions online or prepare notes before or after a session.

We also offer administration support for all your administration needs: writing reports and letters, phoning clients to make appointments, photocopying, sending out new client packs.

Room One is large and suitable for families or group sessions. It contains chairs and a three-seater couch with space for a sandbox or other materials for working with children.

Room Two is suitable for single clients or couple sessions and is also newly refurbished with modern and comfortable furnishings.

Room Three is suitable for single clients, couple or families.  It is also newly refurbished with modern and comfortable furnishings.

All rooms have air-conditioning and heating.

Training Room

A training room is also available for groups up to 20 at tables with ceiling-mounted LCD projector and electronic whiteboard. Kitchen and toilet facilities are also nearby making this an ideal environment for small-medium sized group training events.

The fees for Consulting Rooms at Eltham Counselling Rooms are:

The first 20 sessions in any one month will cost $20 + GST
Sessions 21 to 35 in any one month will cost $17 + GST
Sessions 35 to 50 in any one month will cost $14 + GST
Sessions 51+ in any one month will cost $ 10+ GST

Maximum flexibility is achieved by single hour bookings.

Our system will suit you if you only need a few hours a week or month because you can use individual hours over one or many days and you only pay for what you use. The sliding scale makes using our counselling rooms cost effective.

At McCarthy Psychology Centre you can start with a few clients and build to a full time practice. With two rooms you have a choice as to which room suits you and your clients.

I encourage practitioners with a regular client load, whether this is a few sessions a week or a few days a week to book ahead. You can book up to a year ahead. This means that you can have all the advantages of a regular room at a regular time with the economy of only paying for what you use.

Private practitioners have the added advantage of mixing with other practitioners who can be helpful and good company.


Cancellations incur a $5 fee and can be made right up to the hour of your booking. When the cancellations are made more than a month in advance there is NO CHARGE. If you cancel more than 10 per cent of your bookings in any one month I reserve the right to charge you full fees for the excess cancellations.

This policy is to ensure that people do not overbook – thus locking others out of these times. We ask that people operate within the bounds of these guidelines. It will keep the rooms operating smoothly.

How do I book?

Bookings are made by visiting  The rooms are booked on the hour and for an hour.  There are no half hour bookings. If you wish to book a half hour booking you will need to book the entire hour.

You will be given a user name and password so that you can make your own bookings for your clients.

What we need from you

  • Evidence of professional indemnity and malpractice insurance –photocopy of the insurance schedule will suffice

What you have to do

  • Make your own appointments
  • Make tea or coffee for yourself or your clients
  • Source your own clients.
  • Collect your own fees


We will invoice you monthly for the room payments which must be made within seven days of receipt of invoice.  Payments made after this will incur a $10 late fee.

    I currently work as a dementia educator and I am trained to an advanced level in Dementia Care Mapping (DCM). I think its a fantastic tool, working in so many positive ways to enhance both the well-being of people living with dementia and staff members. I wish to become a trainer of DCM and to do so need to actively participate alongside another trainer who is providing the initial DCM training. I have been made aware that McCarthy Psychology has previously been an active trainer of DCM and was hoping this is still the case and I may become involved. Should this not be possible, could you please inform me of any other organisations that you are aware of in Australia that provide such training. Thank you, Alan
